2face - Ten years and still in the Limelight
One of the leading lights in Nigeria’s music industry, Tuface Idibia, has come a long way. Call him an international star and you are not very far from the truth. “Ask any questions you like, any questions at all, and I will answer it,” Tuface beckoned on members of the press present during the occasion of activities that will mark a decade of his music career. Tuface Idibia when asked about his dealings with women which has resulted to his fathering five children from three different mothers, he explained that all three mothers of his kids are his friends with whom he has had wholesome relationships with at one point in time or the other, referring to himself as a proud father of five children. In all, it was obvious that artiste is now getting some real professional advice, and has decided to work to protect his brand which was being eroded by criticisms of his person.
Unstoppable is a pleasant mix of R&B, reggae, hip-hop and Afrobeat and the first album released on Tuface's music label, Hypertek Records. 2FACE will be taken to the stage in London, alongside America’s sensation MARIO. Both selling hit albums across the globe and attaining numerous awards, they will be bringing the best of both worlds, in a never seen before concert collaboration. In company of a Full Live Band, it will no doubt be an exclusive experience not to be missed!

The Hip-Hop Movement so far

Hip hop music was brought to Nigeria in the late 1980s, and grew steadily popular throughout the first part of the 1990s. The first acts included Sound on Sound, Emphasis, Ruff Rugged & Raw, Swat Root, De Weez and Black Masquradaz. Moreover, mainstream success grew later in the decade, with attention brought by early hits like The Trybesmen's "Trybal Marks" (1999) and the trio The Remedies' "Judile" and "Sakoma". One of The Remedies, Tony Tetuila, went on to work with the Plantashun Boiz to great commercial acclaim. The 1999 founding of Paybacktyme Records by Solomon Dare, popularly known as Solodee, helped redefined and establish a Nigerian hip hop scene. Also, the general rapid growth of the entertainment scene with support from the media helped popularise Hiphop music in Nigeria. Television Programmes like the MTN Y'ello show, Music Africa, and Soundcity played a major role especially with Presenters like Deji Falope whose fascination for diamond and platinum chains and earrings seem to more than subtly express the culture. Other prominent Nigerian hip-hop musicians include Ruggedman, former member of The Remedies Eedris Abdulkareem (who had a well-publicised spat with the American star 50 Cent)
Other notable Nigerian Hip hop artists include Modenine, Terry tha Rapman, O.D, Junkies, Six-Foot Plus, M.I, Naeto C, Ruggedman, Styl-Plus, eLDee, Duncan Mighty, African Kings, Whiteboy Pee, Sauce Kid, Nefe Stone, Ikechukwu of W.F.A, Mastaplan (MP), Kraft, Pherousheouz, Freestyle, Ill Bliss, Elajoe, Sasha, B.o.u.q.u.i, Tony Merlot, Jesse Jeggs.
